Variations and History:
This epitaph is a quote from Virgil’s epic, Aeneid, translated from the latin: “Nulla dies umquam memori vos eximet aevo.”
The epitaph is also the memorial inscription on the wall in front of the victim's remains at the 9/11 Memorial in New York - which was met with some criticism due to it's context within Virgil's tale of two slain trojan warriors. The context of the events from the book contain no relevance or similarity to the atrocities that occurred at the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center on September 11, and therefore the quote is best taken as a standalone, and beautiful memorial phrase.
