Wondering what words to put on a headstone?
Choosing a headstone inscription or epitaph can be a very difficult process, attempting to narrow down the description of a life to a few short words or sentences.
The following tips may be helpful in deciding on a tombstone epitaph:
How are they most fondly remembered?
What qualities or character traits would most people think of first when reflecting on their life. Did they have a unique or distinct sense of humor, or a saying or phrase they often spoke? These things can be a great way to memorialize an individual in just one or two sentences.
Did they have a favorite quote?
Selecting a single quote or line from a favorite book, author, movie, or poem can often speak specifically to a persons life.
What hobbies did they enjoy?
Celebrating the life of someone often involves reflecting on the way they spent their time. Did they love sewing or knitting, sports, or gardening? These things can often be a great way to joyfully remember a loved one. Try searching for epitaphs that speak to or allow for the addition of a hobby.
